DIY Toothpaste Recipe

Ever wonder if there is a better fix out there to protect your teeth than plain jane toothpaste? Well, I love home remedies. Like, a lot. Any time I find the slightest hint of a cold, pimple, or even cavity, I try a home remedy first. And now I use a DIY Toothpaste!

I believe that God has created this earth for us to live off the land. He has given us the opportunity to use plants and herbs that have healing properties.

Ezekiel 47:12 says, “And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”

Have you ever actually read your toothpaste label??

From someone who brushes their teeth twice a day and flosses, I have had a lot of cavities. I am currently trying to reverse tooth decay naturally rather than having a dentist drill my teeth some more. I always wonder why I constantly had cavities when I have been doing exactly what the dentist tells me to. Little did I know how harmful fluoride is for your teeth and how awesome coconut oil is instead.

So let’s get back to the roots, shall we.

2 TBSP Coconut Oil

2 TBSP Baking Soda

1 TBSP Calcium Carbonate

20 drops of Trace Mineral Drops

20 drops of Peppermint Oil

2-3 drops Frankincense Oil (I use Frankincense oil because of the healing properties it has for your teeth. Dr. Axe explains the antiseptic properties that Frankincense oil has as an oral hygiene product. It can help prevent tooth decay and cavities!! The kind I use is Now Essential Oils Frankincense with Grapeseed oil that is diluted and ready to use.)

Combine all ingredients together and store in a sealed container. I like to use the 4oz ball mason jars. The peppermint oil adds a little minty taste to the mixture, making it slightly easier to stand the taste of the baking soda. However, the toothpaste would work just fine without the essential oils!
